Design Leadership

I’m a team player and a team builder. I excel at building highly effective design teams and delivering user-centric, outcome-focused product solutions. I work with stakeholders across the organization to promote design practices and evangelize design values.

From setting team goals to inspiring the team to push the boundaries of our design practice, from organizing team outings to leading training groups, I strive to foster an environment that promotes collaboration and continuous learning.

DesignOps

DesignOps is an emerging sub-discipline of UX design that focuses on optimizing design team operations. As I continue to progress as a design leader, I find the framework of DesignOps extremely helpful in guiding my work and career development. It is a topic that is gaining broader interest in the industry. As a DesignOps champion, I help develop the team, find and hire talent with the right skills, create efficient workflows, and improve the quality and impact of the design outputs.

UX Practices

Throughout my career as a UX practitioner, I have developed and sharpened my core competencies to help me tackle any design and business challenges. As our environment constantly shifts, I am always on the lookout for new skills to add to my repertoire.

Core Competencies

Discovery workshop with client stakeholders.

Stakeholder Engagement

I have extensive experience leading stakeholder workshops, from a group of 3 to as large as 25 participants in a single session. I tailor the activities accordingly as I plan and prepare for the workshop to yield the best outcomes. In addition to leading workshops, I also conduct individual interviews and present on research findings and design strategy. I've interacted with stakeholders across the spectrum, from occasional volunteers to C-Suite executives.

Visioning & Strategy

Working with internal and external team members, I lead product vision and design strategy based on user research findings, business analysis, and technical discovery. For most projects, this takes shape in the format of an Organizing Idea, which outlines the core UX goals for a given project.

User research

Here are a few research approaches I have adopted most frequently in recent years to build empathy with users: user interviews, usability testing, tree testing, card sorting, A/B testing, shadowing, etc.

UX/UI Design

I enjoy translating requirements and insights into tangible designs that users and businesses can react to. Some of my favorite deliverables are: user personas, service blueprints, information architecture (sitemaps), low-fidelity prototypes, style guides, and high-fidelity UI design.

Remote Collaboration

I have experimented with a few remote tools pre-pandemic, and Covid-19 made it a must to have a comprehensive toolset for remote collaboration. Besides the ubiquitous Slack/Teams, Microsoft/Google Suite, Jira/Confluence here are some of my favorite tools to use: Miro (virtual whiteboard), Optimal Workshop (remote tree testing), and Lookback (remote usability studies).
